Polymarket hires Goldman veteran Mantil for Wall Street push

Published: 1 min read
An empty Wall Street trading hall entrance with tall marble columns at dusk, no people or signage visible.

It follows Polymarket naming ex-Amazon executive Warren Jenson CFO in September.

The hit

Polymarket has hired Lisa Mantil, a nearly three-decade Goldman Sachs veteran, as its new head of institutional growth, the company said in a statement. Mantil was most recently a Goldman partner & global head of the bank’s ETF platform. The move comes as Polymarket tries to pull Wall Street liquidity into a market still dominated by retail sports bettors.

Why it matters

Institutional money is the prize prediction markets want next, but many organisations are staying on the sidelines. An unresolved fight over whether states or federal regulators police the sector leaves institutions wary of the legal risk before committing serious capital.

The record

New hire Lisa Mantil named Polymarket head of institutional growth (Polymarket statement)

What happens next

Watch whether institutional capital actually follows Mantil’s hire, or whether the state lawsuits stall it first. Several US states are suing Polymarket & rival Kalshi, alleging illegal gambling operations.
