New York sues Polymarket over illegal gambling claim

Polymarket’s chief legal officer calls the New York lawsuit a “recycled” copy-paste job & vows to keep fighting.

New York has sued the domestic branch of Polymarket, alleging it runs an unlicensed gambling business in the state, according to Engadget. Attorney General Letitia James & Governor Kathy Hochul are seeking a court order to stop Polymarket operating as an unlicensed gambling business in New York state, with the suit also alleging underage betting on the platform. Polymarket’s chief legal officer Neal Kumar called the AG’s decision to “copy/paste a recycled lawsuit” disappointing, & said the company’s “door is open” to the AG’s office.
