Four tribes break ranks & partner with Kalshi on apps
The Indian Gaming Association warns the deals could look like endorsement & undercut tribal court challenges to Kalshi’s sports contracts.
The hit
Four more Native American tribes have struck deals with Kalshi to launch tribal-branded prediction market apps, according to Yogonet. The Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation, Greenville Rancheria & Alturas Indian Rancheria in California, plus Oklahoma’s Alabama-Quassarte Tribal Town, announced the tie-ups on Wednesday, following Louisiana’s Tunica-Biloxi Tribe last month. Only one of the four, Alturas Indian Rancheria, runs a casino.
Why it matters
Each tribe owns its app’s customer-facing business while Kalshi runs the exchange, trade execution & clearing. Some tribes see the deals as a new revenue route, while the Indian Gaming Association warns that tribal buy-in could look like endorsement & undermine court challenges to Kalshi’s sports contracts.
The record
| Tribal gaming revenue | $46.2bn record gross revenue in 2025, 56% from top 9% of facilities |
|---|---|
| IGA reaction | Executive director Jason Giles accused Kalshi of ‘selling them snake oil’ (New York Post) |
| Court split | Two California tribes won a federal appeals ruling against Kalshi & Robinhood; a Wisconsin judge declined to block Kalshi on Ho-Chunk land |
| Prior talks collapsed | IGA’s Victor Rocha emailed Kalshi’s Sara Slane in early 2025: ‘See you in court’ |
